BABSON PARK, Mass.—Eight members of the Babson College men's lacrosse program were honored for their success on the field and in the classroom when the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) announced its 2024 Scholar All-Americans, presented by Blatant Lacrosse, on Friday.

Graduate students Michael Bazzano (Hartford, Conn.) received USILA All-America accolades for the second year in a row, while fellow graduate students Harrison Ike (Allentown, Pa.), Chip Quinn (Catonsville, Md.), Jared Rainville (Watertown, Conn.) and James Turco (Woodbury, N.Y.) and seniors Ford Carney (Garden City, N.Y.), Sammy Kalishman (Clarksville, Md.) and Grey Sunderland (Bellevue, Wash.) were all recognized for the first time. In addition to the individual accolades, the Beavers finished the 2023-24 academic year with a 3.33 grade-point average to earn team academic honors from the USILA.

To be eligible to receive USILA Scholar All-America honors, a student-athlete must be a senior with at least a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average. He will have behaved in a manner that has brought credit to himself, his institution, and to college lacrosse both on and off the field. He must also be an All-American, a member of a North/South team, or an outstanding league or conference player. To be eligible for team academic accolades, a program must finish the academic year with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

Rainville, who earned USILA All-America honorable mention and New England Women's and Men's Player of the Year honors, set new single-season Babson records for goals (78) and points (103) to go along with 25 assists in 20 games. He led the team with eight man-up tallies and also contributed 42 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers on the year.

Rainville, who surpassed Josh Shafer's '95 school records of 71 goals and 102 points back in 1995, ranks seventh in Division III in goals per game (3.90) and 23rd in points per game (5.15). He produced five or more goals nine times and also totaled six or more points on nine occasions and score on 43.8 percent of his shots on the year.

A USILA All-America honorable mention and All-NEWMAC first-team performer, Turco won 62.7 percent of his face-offs (180-of-287), which ranks 32nd in Division III, and scooped up a team-high 111 ground balls this spring. His face-off winning percentage is the best by a Babson player since 2013 and the third best single-season mark in program annals, while his ground ball total ranks fourth in single-season school history.

Not to be outdone, Sunderland won 59.4 percent of his face-offs (142-of-239) and picked up 92 ground balls in 19 games as a senior. His 654 face-off wins and 405 career ground balls both rank first in program history, while his face-off winning percentage of 56.9 is second all-time.

The trio of Bazzano, Carney and Kalishman made up one of the top short-stick middie trios in the country in 2024. Carney, a USILA All-America honorable mention and all-conference first-team selection, picked up 21 ground balls to go along with seven caused turnovers, Kalishman collected 33 ground balls and recorded a career-high 14 caused turnovers, and Bazzano contribute 31 ground balls and six forced turnovers in his first season with the Beavers.

Quinn started all 20 games on defense and earned All-NEWMAC first-team laurels after finishing with 53 ground balls and 20 caused turnovers, while Ike battled back from injury to see action in Babson's conference championship game win over Springfield and the NCAA Tournament third round loss to RIT.

Babson (16-4) set a new school record for wins, captured its second consecutive NEWMAC regular season and tournament championships, and once again reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament before falling to No. 2/3 RIT, 23-16.
